Our Passion (What We Feel)
Westmore defines passion in terms of what it feels deeply. It’s often referred to as a burden (Nehemiah 1:4). It can be the very thing that “yanks a tear from one’s eye” or to say the least, moves one into action.
That passion for Westmore is rooted in Malachi 4:6 which says; “And He (The Lord) will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers…” Westmore’s Malachi 4:6 passion has been so common among our church family that it moved us to purchase a 176 acres golf course for the purpose of building an intergenerational campus.
Our Vision (What We See)
Our passion moved us to vision (what we see) which is to “Build People” through our intergenerational campus. This will be accomplished by networking and providing community service projects, storytelling, senior and active adult living, student ministries and life coaching, skill set training, Christ discovery, self-discovery and intergenerational worship.
“Building People” has always been Westmore’s heart and Vision. Our Vision has moved us to build and complete a truly intergenerational campus which is designed to enhance intergenerational relationships and facilitate intergenerational mentoring! The campus presently hosts the 17,000+ sq. ft. Westmore Student Center, The Heritage Place (a community consisting of thirty-six active adult homes), the Legacy Village of Cleveland (an assisted living and residential memory care facility designed to honor our fathers and mothers), and the 53,000+ sq. ft. Westmore Ministry Center where all generations gather weekly to become the community of faith that God has placed on Westmore Family’s heart.
Our Mission (What We Do)
What the Westmore Family commits to “doing” everyday contributes to the potential reality of the fulfillment of The Westmore vision. Desiring to state our mission (what we do) with clarity much prayer and consideration has been given to the following mission statement: Westmore is a community of faith, reaching with care, nurturing with Word and worshipping with passion.
- Community means common-unity. The Westmore Family seeks daily to find its common-unity in doctrine (what we believe) and direction (where we’re going). Community for The Westmore Family also means that we seek intentional unity among the races, genders, generations, social and economic classes.
- Reaching with Care is offered daily by The Westmore Family through benevolence, hospital and home visits, grief care, counseling, spiritual guidance, prayer, service, etc.
- Nurturing with Word is offered daily through Bible studies, life coaching, television, Facebook live and other social media venues, teaching, preaching, leadership coaching, etc.
- Worshipping with Passion is experienced daily as The Westmore Family “serves with gladness” (Psalm 100:3). Personal worship is encouraged daily while corporate worship can also be experienced daily with the Westmore Family with all of its media outlets. Emphasis is placed on “God-centered” worship, which means preaching, music, sacraments and all worship methods must seek to glorify Christ.
Our Values (Who We Are)
The Westmore Family strongly believes that “we are” disciples of Jesus Christ. A disciple is simply a follower of Christ who Gathers, Grows, Gives, Guides, and Goes. So as disciples of Christ, the Westmore family is gathering, growing, giving, guiding, and going.
Gather
“…not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25, NKJV
While ministering on this earth Jesus spent time modeling to us the importance of gathering. Like our Lord, the Westmore Family is committed to gathering on four levels. First, Jesus paid attention to “the multitude.” It is what Westmore refers to as it’s CELEBRATION (Sunday morning worship experience). Our large gatherings bring the necessary influence and resources to accomplish our vision both locally and around the world. Secondly, He paid attention to the seventy and one hundred and twenty. It’s in this level that people are able to COVENANT by getting to know one another. Thirdly, Jesus paid attention to the twelve. This is where the deeper level of CARE is experienced. Finally, Jesus had CORE relational gatherings with the two or three. Jesus had core relationships with Peter, James and John. This is the level that naturally promotes confession, accountability and a safe place.
The Westmore Family encourages disciples of Christ to consider the value of all four of these gatherings in order to promote personal growth for individuals and families.
- Celebration has always been a unique part of a Sunday morning worship experience when we gather in our Sanctuary, better known as The Family Room. This is our largest gathering because everyone is welcome to join the Family and celebrate the Good News of Jesus through praise, music and wonderful, eternal truths discovered from God’s Word. People from around the world can join us in our Family Room or from anywhere in the world online.
- FOCUS Groups, as previously mentioned, are designed to develop COVENANT relationships with 15 – 70 people gathering in order to go deeper in God’s Word and deeper in relationships. There are groups that include women, men, children, students, prayer, and music, among others.
- Mid-Week gatherings are strategically designed numerically to facilitate CARE and growth.
- Families and or friends who are part of the Westmore Family are encouraged to gather in order to develop CORE relationships for the purpose of confession and accountability.
Grow
“…make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19, NKJV
To be a disciple of Christ is to make a lifetime commitment to “grow up” in Christ.
The Westmore family offers growing opportunities for everyone regardless of where one is at in their lifetime journey with Christ.
- FOCUS Groups are Sunday evening gatherings where one can find opportunities to grow in Christ through relationships, community, and Bible study. Nursery, children, middle school students, high school students, young adults, young marrieds, and all adults can find opportunity to grow within the Westmore Family.
- LifeGroups focus on what you love and propel you into a better life. Do you enjoy the outdoors? There’s a LifeGroup for that. How about sports? We’ve got you covered. Find yourself to be more of an artist? You are going to find people that do life just like you, here! Or maybe you just want to understand the Bible better… there are groups that you can get involved in. Find individuals who share your interests and invest in yourself by discovering community through LifeGroups! Groups rotate every 8-12 weeks. We invite you beyond Sundays to LifeGroups, finding your passions in God’s plan.
- U-Turn Institute provides an opportunity for individuals to not only tell their own story for the purpose of helping others but, also for the purpose of personal growth. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” Revelation 12:11, NKJV
- Discovering God’s word through virtual training and groups (we offer trainings and classes via Zoom and other online platforms).
- Prayer Groups are offered various times of the week to encourage spiritual growth and intimacy with our Lord.
Give
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you werefaithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matthew 25:21, NKJV
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” Malachi 3:10, NKJV
- TIME is a necessary gift given to the Westmore Family by its members in order to offer service in our church, community, and around the world. Service project opportunities are offered daily, weekly, monthly, annually and around the world through Westmore ministries.
- TALENTS are something God gives each of us to steward. Each one of us have been gifted with special talents and spiritual gifts that are needed both in the Westmore Family and through our outreach. Through talents and spiritual giftedness, one can find connectivity and purpose. The Westmore Family desires to offer opportunities for people to contribute through their special God-given gifts and abilities.
- TITHES is the Bible term which simply means 10%. The Westmore Family encourages the giving of tithes and offerings so that God’s work and purposes can be fulfilled through us in our community and around the world. The faithful giving of individuals and families makes all that we do for the Lord possible.
Guide
Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding; For I give you good doctrine: do not forsake my law.” Proverbs 4:1-2, NKJV
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6, NKJV
“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:1, NIV
Jesus always pointed in a direction when He taught His disciples. The Apostle Paul pointed people in a direction when he reminded the Thessalonians that they have received guidance when they became “imitators” of himself and of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 1:6). The Westmore Family is committed to provide spiritual guidance to anyone seeking to find or confirm their destiny, purpose, or calling. We believe by offering guidance through the following venues we can offer a discipleship journey with a more holistic approach that considers mind, body, and spirit.
We place our guidance efforts into the following venues:
- Intergenerational relationships – By creating opportunities for people of all ages and generations to interact and converse. This happens when our children have opportunities to hear the stories of seniors who possess many rich experiences. The Legacy campus provides the Westmore Family unique opportunities to discover and learn from people with amazing faith stories. The Westmore Student Ministries are committed to create venues for such interactions which can be customized to fit different career and ministry interests.
- Assessments – The Westmore Family is committed to helping young people (and all generations) help find their place as it relates to direction in life, education, and career.
- Leadership Development – Lead Pastor, Kelvin Page, takes experienced leaders and potential leaders through a series of courses which addresses visionary leadership from a biblical perspective and personal experience.
- Spiritual Gifts Analysis – all new Westmore Family members are given the opportunity to take a spiritual gifts analysis to help them find their active and potential spiritual gifts, where they fit in the Body of Christ and where they might fit in the marketplace.
- Strength Finders – as people go deeper in our Leadership Development program, we utilize a strength finder assessment along with other analysis to further help them define or reaffirm their potential.
Go
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19, NKJV
The Westmore Family is committed to embracing our Holy Assignment to Go into all the world, “from across the street to across the sea”. This is The Great Commission our Lord assigned to us.
The wonderful news is that while we “go” and accept our assignment, we have a promise that we are not alone, and that there is divine assistance given to us from God Himself.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 NKJV
