“Get In The Mix” with VBS 2021
We’re turning up the volume at VBS to remind each kid that they can have confidence because of Jesus. When kids begin to see themselves the same way that Jesus sees them, then real confidence begins to take root and grow. And you’ll get to spend a fun, memorable week teaching kids these foundational Truths to begin understanding the base of their confidence.
Kids, K through 5th grade, get in the mix for this years VBS “Press Play” at Westmore Student Center! Join us on June 28 through July 1, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Westmore Kid’s Ministry
We join hearts and hands with parents and community as we challenge kids to know, own, live, and share their faith in Jesus. From our large group encounter to our small group experience; children are captured, engaged, and transformed by the Word of God. Throughout the year, our weekly discipleship and special events challenge kids and families to live out their radical faith journey!
New to Westmore?
Westmore Kids Ministries are divided into three main areas: Nursery (birth-23 months); Preschool (2 years-5 years old); and Elementary (K-5th grade). Our Elementary ministry offers two different worship experiences each Sunday morning: one for our younger elementary kids, kindergarten through 2nd grade, and a Pre-teen service for our 3rd through 5th graders!
Our Westmore Kids Ministry entrance is through a convenient drive through Portico. You will enter the building right into our Ocoee Adventure themed children’s ministry check-in area. This is the main hub where all children get checked in leading to their nursery, preschool, and elementary experiences and it also offers a scenic indoor playground for preschoolers.
As Elementary kids get checked in, they will proceed through the elementary doors into the elementary worship area and classrooms. There they will participate in an exciting and engaging worship experience created just for them until picked up by a parent or guardian with a matching security pick-up tag.
After Preschool children (2-5yrs) and Nursery babies (0-23 months) kids get checked in, a parent will drop them off in their classrooms where they will have a safe and exciting worship experience created just for them!
Your children will remain safely in these areas until you come to pick them up again.
Parent or Guardians MUST have a matching security pick-up ticket in order to pick up their children from classrooms or the children’s worship area. We are committed to providing the safest atmosphere possible for your children.
Sunday Kid’s Ministries
Our Children’s Ministries
Elementary Kids Service
The elementary kid’s service is at 10:00am each Sunday morning! It’s an hour and a half weekly service that uses music, drama, and storytelling to communicate the eternal truths of God’s Word. You’ll find that our children’s church parallels our adult service in many ways. We feature praise and worship, offering, ushers, altar ministry and Bible teaching. Students are encouraged to go and live out the truths of God’s Word every day!
Our Elementary ministry offers two different worship experiences each Sunday morning: one for our younger elementary kids, kindergarten through 2nd grade, and a Pre-teen service for our 3rd through 5th graders!
Preschool Kids Service
Our Preschool service starts at 10:00am every Sunday morning! Each year our Preschool team takes the kids on a year-long journey through the Bible. In the summer, we start with Creation and follow God’s Story up to the birth of Jesus at Christmas time. Then we learn all about Jesus’ life as we head towards Easter. We end our journey learning about Jesus’s time on Earth before returning to Heaven. Each week we always talk about how we can pray and talk to God anytime and anywhere. The children learn that Jesus will always love them.
Our Sunday evening Children’s FOCUS classes are a special time for students to Find, Own, Connect, Understand, and Serve in the body of Christ. Children’s FOCUS includes a time of praise and worship, small group discussions, and fun games and activities reinforcing the Sunday morning kid’s message. We have separate Nursery, Preschool, and Elementary FOCUS classes on Sunday nights 6:00-7:00.
Wednesday Kid’s Ministries
(Ranger Kids and Discovery Rangers, K-5th grade)
It is the purpose of the Royal Rangers to “Reach, Teach, and Keep boys for Jesus Christ.” It is our prayer to develop the total boy for Christ. He will explore and learn about his surrounding world and God’s Word through merit achievements, Bible study, outdoor activities, sports, and through service projects. Oh, and do not forget the annual Pinewood Derby race!
(Little Sweethearts, BlueBelles and JoyBelles, K-5th grade)
All girls grades K-5th are invited on Wednesday night to build friendships, earn merits and study God’s Word. They will do crafts, object lessons and journaling. We believe that by establishing a firm foundation in the faith of our children at an early age, they will seek to become virtuous women (Proverbs 31:10)
(High Praises K-5th grade, Cherub choir 2-5 yrs)
Children love to sing. What better way to develop this ability than in singing praises to Jesus. Each year High Praises hosts a Spring and Christmas Musical. During the summer, the kids showcase their God-given talents weekly in the Westmore’s Got Talent competition.
On Wednesdays our preschoolers review the lesson taught on Sunday of that week. They get a chance to help retell the stories with engaging hands on experiences.
Infants Birth – 23 months
We believe that our babies are “Holy Seedlings” that need to be planted and nurtured in a warm loving environment. Our nursery volunteers provide quality care and are sensitive to the desires and concerns of new parents. In order to help families feel comfortable in leaving their child, we provide a visual paging system in the sanctuary for easy notification if parental assistance is needed.
Sunday Morning – 10:00 a.m.
Sunday Night FOCUS – 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday Night – 6:30 p.m.
Ages 2 – Pre-K
Our preschoolers learn about God’s love for them from faithful leaders who share truths from the Bible each week. Our classes engage children’s minds, hearts, and senses through Bible stories, crafts, puppets, and activities. It is our desire to partner with you as parents to assist in your child’s faith journey during these years.
Sunday Morning – 10:00 a.m.
Wednesday Preschool Choirs – 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday Preschool Classes – 7:00-8:00 p.m.
As children grow, they begin to “explore” Biblical concepts. Frequently children in this age group make the life-changing decision to become a Christian. Partnering with parents, our volunteers want to assist in the faith journey during these years.

Is your child interested in Baptism? (click here)
Dear Parents or Guardian:
Your child has expressed interest in baptism. We typically do baptism on the third Sunday of each month. Prior to baptism there is about a 2 to 3-week process of preparation including the baptism testimony video we need to shoot 2 weeks before baptism. When we baptize our Westmore Children’s ministry kids, the baptism testimony video serves three great purposes:
- The process of preparing the video helps kids learn how to articulate their faith story,
- The video helps communicate their faith story to the church family and to any whom you show the video to like out of town family and friends, and
- the video is something they can keep forever to remember this faith defining moment and even share with their own children one day.
Imagine being able to show your children today a testimony video from your life when you were their age. This could be very powerful and formative in their life as it helps to secure their identity knowing that this is who we’ve been and this is who we are. We are the body of Christ.
Along with this letter there should be a baptism teaching guide you can review with them. We use this, along with the baptism testimony video, to teach other kids about baptism on the day your child is baptized. Also, there is a baptism video questionnaire sheet to go over with your child to help them articulate their faith story and prepare for the baptism video shoot.
You can email email@example.com and copy to firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a baptism video shoot. This starts the process to prepare for baptism. We look forward to this great step of faith development in your child as they identity with the body of Christ through the sign of baptism.

Need to schedule a baby dedication? (click here)
Baby dedications are nothing new to the church. Jesus himself was taken to the temple to be dedicated, and during his earthly ministry; children were brought to him for his blessing.
Baby dedication is a special time to celebrate new life. We recognize that this new life was created by God, belongs to God, is a gift on loan to us from God, and must be dedicated to God. We recognize that the dedication itself does not impart salvation to the child, yet it is the commitment by the parents to train up their child in the fear and admonition of the Lord according to God’s Holy Word.
We believe parents are given the task by God to be the primary spiritual influencers of their children. As a community of faith, we also believe the members of Westmore Church of God have a responsibility to partner with parents in their efforts to disciple their children. For this reason, our dedication service has two parts:
1) The 9:30 am private ceremony with family before church
2) The concluding ceremony with the Westmore church family during 10:00 am worship
Baby Dedication ceremonies are normally performed on the fourth Sunday of the month. In some special cases, like if family members serve over seas; adjustments can me made in the schedule.
To schedule a baby dedication, you need to contact the children’s ministry office about a month in advance. You should email email@example.com and/or firstname.lastname@example.org the parents full names, the baby’s full name, all contact information, and include a picture of the baby to be used on the screen during the dedication. You will receive a confirmation email to confirm the baby dedication date along with additional instructions.
We look forward to this exciting celebration of life and to partnering with you to disciple your child to be a believer on a spiritual journey Reaching with Care, Nurturing with Word, and Worshipping with passion!
